Chapter 5 - RYAN'S BEST DEFENSE

Ryan hired Lauren Pierce.
Lauren contacted Grace before police questioned him.
She did not let Ryan make emotional statements.
Smart.
Her position:
Carter Environmental Response legitimately moved damaged containers at Pine Ridge under emergency environmental authority.
Some drums contained:
solvents,
adhesives,
contaminated rinse water.
Leaving them exposed after the fire created environmental risk.
CER documented transfers to a temporary containment zone.
The work happened before Thomas Keller’s supplemental visit.
True.
Lauren said:
“The audio may describe lawful site management.”
Grace replied:
“Then why did someone send three men after Lili’s watch?”
Lauren did not answer.
Because that was separate.
She continued:
“Do not assume my client ordered it.”
Also fair.
Ryan admitted he knew Lili often ran near Pine Ridge.
He denied knowing she passed the site that morning.
He denied hiring Trent, Jake, or Cole.
He denied contacting the SUV.
Then he produced CER work orders.
Container relocation was real.
Signed by Everett site manager.
Photographed.
Logged.
For a moment, Lili wondered whether she had misread everything.
Then Grace found one discrepancy.
The work order said seven drums moved.

Disposal manifest listed five.
Two missing.
