Chapter 13 - SPENCER VALE

Spencer Vale was not arrested for kidnapping.
He did not cause Leo’s abduction.
That distinction mattered.
But financial investigations expanded.
The records from Caleb and Mason, combined with Daniel’s security logs, showed:
misleading investor communications,
improper asset transfers,
concealed related-party transactions.
Some conduct was civil.
Some potentially criminal.
Federal prosecutors charged Spencer months later with securities and wire-fraud-related offenses.
Not every investor loss was fraud.
Not every transfer was theft.
But enough was provable.
The nine-million-dollar wallet was frozen.
A court-supervised process eventually returned a portion to creditors and investors.
Not all.
Mason had believed one transfer could fix everything.
Reality was slower.
Legal fees.
Priority claims.
Tax obligations.
Victim funds.
Caleb’s family received part.
Mason received none personally.
Appropriate.
Kyle accepted a plea on kidnapping and conspiracy charges.
Mason faced more serious charges because he planned and executed the abduction.
His cooperation with financial investigators did not erase what he did.
Maybe sentencing later reflected assistance.
But no one called him a hero.
Emma appreciated that.
