Chapter 7 - THE TIGER VIDEO
The zoo footage went viral within hours.
A toddler at tiger glass.
Atlas approaching.
Leo saying “Kitty.”
Kidnappers freezing at the roar.
Emma hated it.
People called Leo:
Tiger Baby.
Lucky Leo.
The Boy Protected by a Tiger.
None was accurate.
Atlas could not have physically protected him through glass.
Leo escaped because the kidnappers left a door open.
He survived because people noticed him.
Because security reacted.
Because luck.
Then a news station invited Emma to explain the tiger’s behavior.
She refused.
The zoo issued a short statement instead.
Familiarity with certain sounds and scents may have contributed to the animal’s attention.
No mythology.
Still, the mythology grew.
Then Ryan noticed something in the video.
Not Atlas.
Mason.
When the tiger roared, Mason raised one arm.
His sleeve pulled back.
Tattoo.
Small geometric mark.
Ryan recognized it from photographs in Caleb Burke’s bankruptcy file.
Brothers had matching tattoos.
Identity confirmed.
Then another frame.
Mason looked toward the staff exit before running.
He knew where it was.
Why?
Had he visited the zoo before?
Zoo ticket records used no names for ordinary visitors.
But parking cameras did.
A vehicle registered to Mason entered three times in the past month.
Why scout the zoo?
Kyle said staging area was chosen only two days earlier.
Contradiction.
Then Emma remembered something.
Spencer Vale served on Brookfield Wildlife Park’s donor council.
His company had recently proposed funding a new education center.
Mason may have followed him here.
Then Ryan pulled donor-meeting security footage.
Mason had appeared outside one meeting.
Watching Spencer.
This was not just a random escape location.
