Daniel went to trial.
He did not confess.
His defense remained intelligent.
Margaret had secretly investigated him.
Used a hidden recorder.
Agreed to a private yacht meeting.
Disappeared after surviving.
Allowed Claire to believe she was dead.
Therefore:
Margaret was capable of elaborate planning.
True.

the struggle may have begun because Margaret confronted Daniel physically.
Audio did not clearly show who touched whom first.
Possible.
Then:
“Five million. Finally” could be interpreted as bitter sarcasm after shock.
Possible.

searches could relate to insurance planning and boating safety.
Possible.
The prosecution did not rely on one fact.
They built accumulation.
Forged authorization.
Beneficiary change.
Trust-control draft.
Midnight marina visit.
Camera wire cut.
Loose railing.
Audio argument.
Margaret’s plea.
Daniel’s false slip statement.
Bracelet concealment.
Insurance contact before search ended.
Search history.
Financial management agreement.
One fact could bend.
All together formed shape.
The jury convicted Daniel on attempted murder, insurance-fraud-related charges, forgery, and associated financial offenses.
Not every count.
One obstruction count failed.
One conspiracy theory involving his associate was not proven.
Precision mattered.
Claire did not celebrate.
She sat between no one.
Before leaving the marina, Claire walked to the railing outside the café.
Margaret stayed three steps back.
Good.
Claire looked at the water.
Bright.
Ordinary.
Beautiful in the irritating way dangerous things often are.
She asked:
“Do you still own the yacht?”
“No.”
“You sold it?”
“Yes.”
“Why?”
Margaret thought.
“I didn’t want every future family decision to happen around that object.”
Claire nodded.
She understood.
Then:
“Did you lose money?”
“Of course.”
Claire smiled.
“Good.”
Margaret laughed.
First real laugh between them in months.
