Chapter 9 - MELISSA'S MESSAGE
Melissa was the first to break.
Not confess dramatically.
Just panic.
She called Natalie at midnight.
“I didn’t know Mom was going to shove Lily at the officers.”
Natalie said nothing.
Melissa continued:
“I thought they were just coming to scare her.”
“That’s worse than you think.”
“I know.”
“No. You don’t.”
Melissa cried.
Then:
“I have messages.”
“What messages?”
“Mom and Blue Oak.”
Natalie sat up.
Melissa forwarded them.
EVELYN:
Natalie will sign once the pressure becomes unbearable.
BLUE OAK REP:
We cannot be involved in family pressure. Please keep domestic matters separate.
EVELYN:
Understood.
Then to Melissa:
EVELYN:
We just need Natalie to stop stalling before the option dies.
No instruction from Blue Oak to abuse anyone.
Important.
The developer had actually told Evelyn to separate family matters.
