Chapter 4 - WHO HAD ACCESS

Franklin’s camera system was old but password-protected.

Only four people had administrator access.

Daniel.

Assistant manager Lisa Grant.

IT contractor Ben Keller.

Board treasurer Martin Mason.

Rachel stopped.

“Mason?”

Daniel nodded slowly.

“Tyler’s uncle.”

There.

Martin Mason was fifty-two.

Real-estate developer.

Community board member.

Longtime donor.

He had joined Franklin’s board eight months earlier after contributing money for roof repairs.

Tyler’s mother Melissa was his younger sister.

Daniel said:

“That doesn’t prove anything.”

Rachel knew.

Still.

Then Ben Keller checked logs.

The footage had been deleted remotely using Martin’s administrator credentials.

Time:

11:41 a.m.

Twenty minutes after Jason uploaded the edited clip.

Martin denied doing it.

“My password may have been compromised.”

Possible.

Then:

his account connected from an IP assigned to Mason Development Group.

Still not proof Martin personally clicked delete.

But stronger.

Martin arrived furious.

He did not ask whether Emma was okay.

He asked:

“Why was a baby near free weights?”

Rachel stood.

Daniel stepped between them.

“She was in the family zone.”

Martin replied:

“Then your family zone is unsafe.”

Interesting.

Not:

my nephew should not have shoved a child.

Instead:

gym liability.

Then Martin said something else.

“This is exactly why Franklin needs professional management.”

Daniel stared.

“What does that mean?”

Martin smiled.

“You know what it means.”

May you like

Rachel did not.

Not yet.
