Chapter 12 - DANIEL TRIES CUSTODY

Daniel filed for temporary equal parenting time.
Claire panicked.
Rachel stopped her.
“Bad husband does not automatically mean unfit father.”
Claire hated that sentence.
But understood.
Daniel had never previously hurt Lily.
The crib incident was reckless.
His choice to side with Vanessa was awful.
But custody required child-focused analysis.
The court ordered:
supervised visits initially,
parenting evaluation,
no Vanessa contact with Lily,
communication through app.
Daniel complied.
That helped him.
Then evaluator found:
Daniel loved Lily,
but had poor judgment under conflict,
minimized Claire’s safety concerns,
and mixed financial disputes into family decision-making.
Recommendation:
gradual parenting time expansion if compliance continued.
Claire accepted.

Not happily.
Accurately.
