Chapter 13 - THE TEMPORARY ORDER
Judge Holt issued temporary orders.
Rachel:
primary residential parent.
Daniel:
scheduled parenting time, initially structured around predictable daytime periods.
Not supervised long-term unless new concerns arose.
No Madison present during early adjustment period.
No secret third-party caregiving.
Both parents required to share:
location,
daycare,
medical information,
travel plans.
Evelyn visits permitted only with both parents informed.
Rachel disliked that last part.
Then realized:
informed did not mean permission for ordinary contact during Daniel’s parenting time, unless order required it.
She could not control everything either.
That was uncomfortable.
Necessary.
Then judge addressed the plaza.
“One serious lapse does not permanently define a parent.”
Daniel looked relieved.
Then:
“But concealment before and dishonesty after can magnify the significance of that lapse.”
Relief vanished.
Then she addressed Rachel.
“Protective panic is understandable. Physical aggression is not a sustainable co-parenting strategy.”
Rachel nodded.
Fair.
No hero.
No monster.
Two adults.

One child.
One collapsed marriage.
