Chapter 6 - MADISON'S VERSION
Madison stopped being smug when she hired her own lawyer.
She had believed Daniel was already separated.
Not legally.
Emotionally.
He told her:
Rachel slept separately.
Divorce paperwork was being prepared.
Emma would be shared fifty-fifty.
Evelyn approved.
Some true.
Some false.
Madison admitted she knew Rachel did not know about the apartment.
That made her less innocent.
Then Rachel asked through attorneys:
“Why did you say ‘Forget her’ when Emma ran?”
Madison looked ashamed.
She claimed she meant:
Forget Rachel.
Not Emma.
The video was ambiguous.
Her exact words occurred while Emma was already moving away, but Madison’s eyes were on Daniel.
Could not prove intent toward the child.
Still ugly.
Then Madison revealed another secret.
Daniel had shown her draft custody notes.
Not filed.
He wrote:
RACHEL — emotional volatility.
History of explosive reactions.
Overprotective behavior.
Difficulty regulating under stress.
Rachel stared.
“He was documenting me?”
Madison nodded.
Daniel had saved text arguments.
Recorded two conversations.
Collected examples of Rachel yelling.
Why?
He told Madison he expected Rachel to “go nuclear” during divorce.
Then the plaza gave him something unexpected.
Rachel grabbing his shirt.
Shoving him.
Public.
Recorded.
Daniel’s lawyer might use it.
Rachel’s attorney said:
“Then we provide context.”
Again.
Context.

Rachel hated that everything required proof.
But she was learning.
