Chapter 12 - DANIEL AND VANESSA
Daniel separated from Vanessa immediately after the amusement-park incident.
Not because the court required divorce.
Because he could not trust her judgment around Emily.
Vanessa said:
“I never wanted her hurt.”
Daniel answered:
“I believe you.”
That surprised her.
Then:
“I also believe you knew the seat moved and said nothing.”
She cried.
“I froze.”
“Maybe.”
He looked at her.
“But before that, you planned the day.”
Silence.
Vanessa asked:
“Do you hate me?”
“No.”
“Then why won’t you help me?”
“I am helping Emily.”
Different priority.
Then she said:
“You’re choosing her over your wife.”
Daniel stared.
“She is nine.”
That ended the argument.
Family court established supervised contact.
Vanessa entered therapy.
No immediate reunification.
No child forced to forgive.
Then Daniel filed for divorce months later.
