Chapter 14 - THE RIDE PLATFORM

Two years later, Emily returned to Adventure Harbor.

By choice.

Not for the same ride.

For a slower family coaster.

Daniel asked:

“Are you sure?”

“Yes.”

Helen came too.

They stood on the boarding platform.

Emily watched operators check restraints.

One employee tugged each seat carefully.

Emily noticed everything.

Then Ryan Miller walked past.

He still worked there.

Now as senior safety trainer.

He recognized her.

“Emily?”

She smiled nervously.

“Hi.”

He did not tell her:

You were so brave.

Good.

She had been terrified.

He said:

“Glad to see you.”

Then Emily asked:

“Do you check seats more now?”

Ryan smiled.

“We check the same required things, but our access controls and contractor rules are stricter.”

That was the real institutional change.

Adventure Harbor had:

disabled legacy credentials,

tightened contractor access,

added two-person maintenance verification for certain restricted tasks,

and improved pre-dispatch escalation when any seat anomaly appeared.

No technical sabotage details.

Only safeguards.

Emily boarded the slower coaster.

Daniel sat beside her.

She checked the restraint herself.

Ryan checked it too.

Then Emily said:

“Okay.”

The ride started.

No panic.

No miracle cure.

Just one safe experience.
