Chapter 7 - THE HOTEL ROOM

Emily finally told Sophia exactly what happened.
No lawyer.
No pool.
No screaming.
Just the guest room.
“I wanted him.”
Sophia looked away.
Emily continued:
“I hated myself for it.”
“Did you sleep with him?”
“No.”
“Kiss?”
“Yes.”
“How many times?”
“Two nights.”
Sophia’s face tightened.
“Touch him?”
Emily closed her eyes.
“Yes.”
Sophia stood.
Emily said:
“I’m not asking you to forgive me.”
Good.
Then:
“I’m telling you because he keeps using the parts I’m ashamed of to make the rest look false.”
Sophia turned.
That sentence mattered.
Emily had betrayed her.
Ryan had manipulated that betrayal.
Neither truth canceled the other.
Then Emily said:
“He told me you called me needy.”
Sophia frowned.
“What?”
“He said you said I always need rescuing.”
“I never said that.”
Emily started crying.
Ryan had not just forged screenshots.
He had repeated private insecurities.
Where did he get them?
Sophia had once told Ryan:
“I worry Emily thinks I judge her.”
He transformed concern into insult.

Effective.
He weaponized intimacy.
