Chapter 9 - THE DOCTOR'S LETTER

The forged physician letter became central.

Jason denied creating it.

He said:

“I received it.”

“From whom?”

“My mother’s doctor.”

The doctor testified.

“I did not write that.”

Signature forged.

Letterhead copied from prior correspondence.

Then metadata.

Document created on a laptop registered to:

Carter Management Services LLC.

Jason’s company.

Jason’s lawyer argued an employee could have created it.

Carter Management had no employees.

Then Jason said:

“Tyler uses my laptop.”

Possible.

Tyler denied it.

No perfect confession.

But circumstantial evidence grew.

Then bank security footage showed Jason presenting the letter during a meeting about the home-equity line.

He told the loan officer:

“My mother is declining. I’m trying to stabilize things before it gets worse.”

Helen watched the footage.

Her face remained calm.

Then the loan officer testified:

“Mr. Carter asked whether conservatorship would allow him to close without his mother attending.”

That sentence destroyed the idea that he was merely helping.

He was planning for her absence.

Not death.

Legal disappearance.
