Certain disputed fees remained accepted as legitimate.
No treble-damage fantasy.
Richard retained:
his personal wealth,
company shares,
home.
He did not lose his life.
He lost authority over the trust.
That hurt him more.
David’s company collapsed after losing the family contract.
Not because court ordered destruction.
Because too much revenue depended on one related-party source.
Mark left Carter Components.
That shocked everyone.
He started a smaller manufacturing consultancy.
Less money.
More control over his own ethics.
Richard called it disloyal.
Mark answered:
“Maybe.”
Then:
“Or maybe loyalty isn’t the same as obedience.”
