Hale Holdings tried to keep the divorce private.
It failed.
A tabloid obtained photographs of Adrian leaving the hotel.
Then a reporter learned Evelyn’s name.
Then the board formed a special committee.
Not because corporations suddenly developed morality.
Because governance risk became impossible to ignore.
Adrian was a senior executive with access to family investment vehicles.
The financial documents in the bridal suite created questions.
Had Hale counsel prepared private marital control documents using company resources?
Had Adrian misused employees or attorneys for personal matters?
An internal review began.
Adrian blamed Claire.
She did not speak publicly.
That frustrated him more.
He wanted a public fight.
Claire gave him records.
The review found no grand criminal conspiracy.
Something more mundane.
Company lawyers had drafted some personal documents without proper conflict screening.
Adrian used executive assistants to schedule private legal meetings.
He pressured one finance employee to prepare asset summaries concerning Claire before the wedding.
That employee believed Claire had consented.
She had not.
Adrian was removed from the succession track.
