Chapter 7 - THE SMART-HOME RECORDS

Their patio camera did not point directly at the area where Emily fell.
Rachel had chosen that fact quickly.
But the smart-home system logged:
hose-valve activation,
patio motion,
back-door openings.
At 4:16 p.m., the hose activated.
At 4:18, Emily’s smartwatch recorded a sudden fall.
At 4:19, the hose remained active.
That mattered.
Rachel had claimed she sprayed Emily only after the fall because she was dirty.
The timestamps contradicted her.
Hose first.
Fall second.
Exactly what Emily said.
Then a neighbor’s outdoor microphone captured a faint voice.
Emily:
“Stop!”
Then Rachel:
“Hold still!”
No video of impact.
No graphic evidence.

Just sequence.
Enough to destroy the simple “she fell” story.
