Chapter 5 - THE FIRST MISSING OBJECT

Three weeks before the locket incident, Elena noticed a bronze sculpture missing from the library.
Insured value:
$42,000.
Seraphina said it had been moved for cleaning.
“Where?”
“Storage.”
“Which storage?”
“Julian’s.”
Arthur had not approved the transfer.
The sculpture returned two days later.
Seraphina called it a transport quote.
Possible.
Then two antique watches vanished from Arthur’s dressing-room safe for one afternoon.
They returned.
Seraphina said they had been photographed for insurance.
Again possible.
Elena wrote down:
dates,
times,
items,
who moved them.

Seraphina once saw the notebook.
After that, her attitude toward Elena changed completely.
