Prairie Hope lost its emergency lender.
Why?
The reimbursement investigation scared financing.
Jason tried to sell.
No buyer.
The company shut down.
Twenty-three employees lost jobs.
Some clients transferred to competitors.
Some experienced disruption.
Laura blamed Grant.
“If you hadn’t pushed the investigation—”
Grant stared.
“I was in a hospital because I was racing home to the children you left.”
She stopped.

“I was trying to save people’s jobs.”
“You used Tessa to do it.”

“I should have shut Laura down.”
