Chapter 8 - THE SIGNATURES

Forensic review separated the financial claims.

Some were legitimate.

Prairie Hope had provided approved elder-care transportation for Grant’s mother before she died.

Those reimbursements were real.

Then after her death, similar provider templates continued.

Dates changed.

Service categories changed.

Grant’s e-signature reused.

Laura admitted submitting them.

Her defense:

She believed the dependent-care benefit allowed broader family respite.

It did not.

Employer policy was clear.

Then email to Jason:

LAURA:

I can keep floating you through Grant’s benefit account for another month.

JASON:

Is that legal?

LAURA:

It’s reimbursement money. Nobody audits small claims.

There.

Intent.

Then Jason replied:

Don’t do anything that can get you in trouble.

That helped him.

He accepted money later.

But he did not originate the claim scheme.
