The traffic investigation cleared the other driver of criminal wrongdoing.
The intersection light favored him.
Grant had entered too fast.
He slammed brakes late.
No alcohol.
No phone in hand.
Call on speaker.
But speed mattered.
Grant was terrified.
Still responsible.
His insurance premium rose.
He received a traffic citation.
That angered him initially.
“My children were alone.”
The officer answered:
“And another family was on the road.”
Correct.
Grant had tried to rescue Tessa by creating another danger.
In therapy he admitted:
“I thought getting there faster was the only thing that mattered.”
