Chapter 7 - THE OTHER SIGNATURES

The necklace was not the only altered document.
Forensic review found:
a home-equity application,
a personal guarantee,
two vendor-credit forms.
Some had Claire’s genuine signatures.
Some did not.
The home-equity line was legitimate.
Claire remembered signing.
The North Coast collateral consent was not.
Then an email from Daniel to his office manager:
Need Claire’s sig on the attached. Use the same e-sign block from the HELOC packet so I don’t have to bother her tonight.
Office manager replied:
Is that okay?
Daniel:
She already approved the financing concept.
There.
Not:
forge it.
But close enough to show mindset.
He believed concept approval gave him authority to reuse signature.
Same logic again:
general yes becomes specific yes.
Rachel said:
“That’s not how consent works.”
Claire looked at the knife evidence.
May you like
“No.”
It was not how anything worked.
