Chapter 13 - THE DIVORCE
Claire filed for divorce.
Daniel asked:
“Because of one stupid transfer?”
Claire answered:
“No.”
“Because I changed a lock?”
“No.”
“Then what?”
Claire looked at him.
“Because you decided my injury made my consent optional.”
He said nothing.
The divorce dealt with:
marital savings,
business interests,
retirement accounts,
house-contribution claims,
custody.
Daniel did not receive half the house.
But he did receive credit for some documented marital contributions to improvements.
Claire hated that at first.
Rebecca told her:
“Fair law is not revenge.”
Claire accepted it.
