Chapter 7 - THE SITE INSPECTION
The insurance company scheduled a post-disbursement site inspection.
Date:
Monday.
Daniel learned on Thursday.
On Friday, he told Claire:
“The house needs to be empty during construction.”
Claire frowned.
“What construction?”
“Ramp and bathroom.”
“No one started anything.”
“They’re starting Monday.”
Then he told Lily and Noah to pack.
Claire refused.
Daniel became furious.
He said:
“You can’t even use half the house. Stop fighting everything.”
Saturday morning, while Claire attended physical therapy, Daniel changed the front lock.
He packed Claire’s clothing.
Then the children’s.
His plan was to move them into an extended-stay hotel for “several weeks.”
That was the explanation he gave later.
But he never booked the hotel.
Instead, he told Claire:
“Go to your sister’s.”

That was not temporary relocation planning.
That was removal.
