Chapter 5 - THE RENOVATION COMPANY

Aaron Cole was a licensed general contractor.

His company was real.

That mattered.

He had done work for the Carters before.

Deck repair.

Kitchen tile.

Garage drywall.

But Carter Residential Mobility LLC was new.

Its purpose:

accessibility renovations.

Daniel said he created the arrangement because Aaron offered a better rate.

Invoice:

ACCESSIBILITY PHASE ONE DEPOSIT — $38,000.

The invoice listed:

ramp framing,

bath demolition,

door widening,

materials procurement.

None had happened.

No permits.

No demolition.

No materials at the house.

Aaron’s explanation:

“We were waiting on final measurements.”

Rebecca asked:

“Why invoice the full thirty-eight?”

Aaron said:

“Daniel asked me to reserve labor.”

Possible.

Unusual.

Then the bank records showed Aaron transferred:

$24,000

back out three days later.

Destination:

May you like

Carter Venture Holdings.

Daniel’s company.
