Feeding.
Sleep schedule.

Who got to hold Maisie at family events.
Elaine believed Rachel deliberately pushed Lucas away from his family.
Rachel believed Elaine treated Maisie like a replacement child.
Both had evidence.
Then Rachel mentioned divorce.
Elaine heard:
distance.
Then Chicago.
Elaine heard:
erasure.
Then the trust.
Elaine heard:
Rachel could move without needing Lucas financially.
That was the trigger.
She told Tessa:
“If Rachel leaves, we’ll see Maisie twice a year if we’re lucky.”
Tessa said:
“So?”
Elaine stared.
“So we stop it.”
Tessa had not understood what “stop it” meant.
Then another layer emerged.
Elaine had been helping Lucas pay legal bills.
$35,000 transferred into his personal account.
Not from Maisie’s trust.
Her money.
She hired Grant.
She introduced Daniel Pierce.
She organized the rental.
Lucas approved the plan.
But Elaine built the machine.
That did not make Lucas innocent.
It made him weaker than Rachel had realized.
