Chapter 9 - MICHAEL DIDN'T KNOW
Everyone expected Michael to be part of Diane’s plan.
He was not.
When told about the 6% descendant block, he looked horrified.
“Noah?”
Rachel corrected:
“Sophie.”
Michael stared at Diane.
“You told me William wanted Noah included.”
Diane said:
“He did.”
“In what?”
“Future planning.”
“That’s not this.”
Michael had accepted:
mentoring,
committee invitations,
increased responsibility.
He believed those came from his performance.
Some did.
Diane had been using Noah symbolically without telling Michael the full legal problem.
Then Michael said something unexpected.
“If Sophie’s trust is owed, create it.”
Diane snapped:
“You don’t understand what that does.”
“It gives her what William signed.”
