Chapter 2 - YOU FORGED MY SIGNATURE

Claire slammed the forged documents into Daniel’s chest.

“YOU FORGED MY SIGNATURE!”

Daniel did not flinch.

He looked down at the papers.

Then smiled.

“And now your company belongs to me.”

Claire’s face twisted.

She slapped him.

Hard.

Evelyn stood near the window.

Cold.

Watching.

Daniel grabbed Claire.

“YOU UNGRATEFUL BITCH!”

“GET YOUR HANDS OFF ME!”

Claire shoved him backward.

He crashed into the table.

A glass shattered.

Daniel lunged.

Claire swung back.

Not graceful.

Not cinematic.

Desperate.

Evelyn screamed:

“DANIEL! PUT HER DOWN!”

Claire broke free.

“I’LL BURY BOTH OF YOU!”

Then—

BANG.

The conference-room door burst open.

Three large men in dark suits entered.

Claire recognized one.

Victor Dane.

Private security contractor Daniel had used at investor events.

Daniel pointed.

“GRAB HER!”

Two men seized Claire’s arms.

A third blocked the door.

“LET GO OF ME!”

They tightened their grip.

Evelyn stepped close.

“You should’ve stayed obedient.”

Daniel grabbed Claire’s face.

“You lost.”

Claire stopped struggling.

One second.

Then her expression changed.

She planted one foot.

Twisted hard.

Jerked one arm free.

Elbowed the second man away.

Turned.

Shoved the third man backward.

The movement came from six months of self-defense classes she had started after Daniel once blocked her from leaving their bedroom during an argument.

Not enough to fight three men.

Enough to create space.

Everyone froze.

Claire stood in the middle of the room.

Breathing hard.

Fists clenched.

“ENOUGH!”

Daniel took one step back.

Evelyn’s smile vanished.

Claire raised her fists.

Then Daniel laughed.

“You think you’re getting out?”

Claire looked at him.

“No.”

She lowered one hand into her jacket pocket.

Pressed a button.

Daniel’s face changed.

May you like

Claire smiled.

“I think you’re already too late.”
