Claire sought an emergency injunction restoring voting control.
Daniel fought it.
His lawyers argued:
forgery allegations unresolved,
board acted under apparent authority,
third parties had relied on resolutions,
abrupt reversal could damage the company.
The judge did not immediately hand Claire everything back.
That enraged her.
Maya expected it.
“Courts don’t like detonating companies based on one hearing.”
So they narrowed the request.
Freeze sale to Meridian.
Freeze new debt.
Freeze stock transfer.
Require dual authorization for major decisions.
Preserve all records.
Granted.
Daniel remained temporary operating controller in limited areas.
Claire retained economic rights but not full voting power pending expedited hearing.
Partial victory.
Infuriating.
Then Daniel called employees into a town hall.
He said:
“Claire is trying to shut down the company because of our marriage.”
He never said she forged anything.
He said:
“There is a legal dispute over authority.”
Technically true.
Then:
“My priority is your jobs.”
Employees applauded.
Some.
Claire watched the recording.
Daniel had positioned himself as stability.
She looked like litigation.
Then Noah showed her something.
Employee payroll had been paid that morning using a new short-term facility.
Lender:
Evelyn Bennett Family Trust.
Claire stared.
Evelyn had injected $900,000.
