At sentencing Sloane said:
“I thought I was saving my marriage.”
Evelyn looked at her.
The judge asked:
“From whom?”
Sloane did not answer.
Then Evelyn gave a statement.
“I was hungry in a house with six refrigerators.”
The room went silent.
She continued:
“That is the part I want remembered.”

“Food was everywhere.”
Pause.
“And I needed permission.”

Then Evelyn said:
“I do not need revenge.”
