Chapter 8 - THE FIRST FALSE STORY

Margaret went neighborhood to neighborhood.
Not literally door to door.
She used the community Facebook group.
Carefully.
No direct accusation.
She wrote:
Recent tensions regarding pet control and volunteer access to confidential HOA records are being handled appropriately. Please avoid spreading unverified allegations.
No names.
Everyone knew the names.
Then private messages circulated.
Emily is using HOA files to punish Margaret because of the dog.
Emily is obsessed.
Emily threatened her.
Did Emily threaten Margaret?
Not verbally.
But one neighbor claimed Emily said:
“She’s going to pay.”
Emily did not remember saying it.
Maybe she did.
That phrase became Margaret’s favorite evidence.
Intent mattered.
So did perception.
