Travis agreed to meet with counsel.
Marcus expected arrogance.
He got irritation.
Travis said:
“I didn’t want any part of this.”
Marcus replied:
“You drove documents out of my house.”
“My company drove groceries. I moved sealed packets four times.”
“For my wife.”
“For her lawyer.”
“Same difference.”
“No.”
That distinction mattered.
Travis had never opened the packets.
Nicole, his sister, reviewed some documents after Allison formally retained her.
Professional engagement.
Conflict disclosed.
Then Rachel asked:
“Did Travis and Madison communicate outside the document transfers?”
Yes.
Texts.
Calls.
Mostly logistics.
Some personal.
TRAVIS:
You okay?
MADISON:
No.
TRAVIS:
You want me to come over?
MADISON:
No. That makes everything worse.
Another:
TRAVIS:
Marcus always scared you a little.
MADISON:
That’s not fair.
That line hurt Marcus.
Then:
MADISON:
He doesn’t scare me. His silence does.
No affair.
But emotional intimacy existed.
Madison confided in Travis because she did not trust Marcus.
Not infidelity.
Still a fracture.
Marcus asked:
“Did you want her back?”
Travis paused.
“Part of me did.”
Madison closed her eyes.
Then Travis added:
May you like
“But she never offered.”
Truth that hurt without becoming scandal.
