Chapter 16 - ANA LEARNS NOT TO TAKE OVER

After Luis left, Ana made a new mistake.

She overprotected Isabel.

Changed locks without asking.

Scheduled therapy.

Called contractors.

Reviewed every bill.

Asked where she was going.

Isabel finally snapped.

“Stop.”

Ana froze.

“What?”

“You’re doing it too.”

The sentence hit hard.

“What am I doing?”

“Deciding.”

Ana stepped back.

“I’m trying to help.”

“I know.”

That was the problem.

Control can wear love.

Ana had spent a year fighting that truth in Luis.

Now she had to apply it to herself.

She apologized.

Not defensively.

Then asked:

“What do you want me to handle?”

Isabel thought.

“The lawyer stuff.”

“Okay.”

“And the roof repair.”

“Done.”

“Not done. Help me choose.”

Ana smiled.

“Right.”

Recovery required agency, not rescue.

Ana learned slower than she expected.
