Luis filed first.
Strategic.
His petition described Isabel as emotionally unstable, financially irresponsible, and increasingly paranoid.
He requested temporary exclusive possession of the house.
Ana laughed when she read that.
Maya didn’t.
“Don’t underestimate him.”
The filing claimed:
Luis had invested substantial marital funds into maintaining the property.
Isabel had voluntarily transferred beneficial rights.
Ana had interfered in the marriage.
Vanessa was described only as “a family friend and business associate.”
Maya almost admired the nerve.
Then came the dangerous part.
Luis attached medical records.
Isabel’s.
Therapy notes from years earlier after two miscarriages.
Medication history.
Anxiety treatment.
Ana stared.
“How did he get these?”
Isabel looked sick.
“He handled insurance.”
There it was.
Luis had accumulated private records through marital access and now used them as narrative.
Unstable wife.
Controlling sister.
Reasonable husband.
Maya filed motions to restrict irrelevant medical disclosures and challenged the house claim immediately.
They also sought a temporary protective order based on isolation, financial control, and threatening behavior.
Luis’s attorney called it retaliatory.
The judge called for evidence.
Good.
