Chapter 5 - THE NANNY PROBLEM
Victoria did not choose violence first.
She chose paperwork.
Two weeks before the hallway incident, she began building what Rachel later called the Nanny File.
Incident reports.
Household notes.
Photographs.
Elena did not know any of it existed.
Entry one:
Elena permits Leo to sleep in carrier against pediatric safe-sleep guidance.
Reality:
Leo fell asleep in the carrier during a short walk; Elena transferred him to crib within minutes.
Entry two:
Elena refuses maternal handoff.
Reality:
Victoria had returned intoxicated from a charity dinner and Elena asked the overnight nurse to stay during the handoff.
Entry three:
Elena becomes possessive when Victoria holds child.
Reality:
Leo cried, and Elena offered the bottle he had been waiting for.
Entry four:
Elena photographs private documents.
That one was true.
Then a worse claim:
Elena intentionally undermines maternal bonding and encourages infant preference.
Rachel read it twice.
“Encourages?”
Victoria answered:
“Leo reaches for her more than me.”
Marcus said:
“He sees her ten hours a day.”
Victoria’s eyes flashed.
“That’s the problem.”
There.
Not only contract.
Jealousy.
Status.
Control.
Victoria needed Elena removed because Elena:
knew Leo’s routine,
knew Marcus’s rules,
saw the campaign materials,
and could contradict any story Victoria told about what happened in the nursery.
So Victoria planned to make Elena professionally toxic.
