Chapter 8 - THE BRAND EXECUTIVE

Maison Petit sent general counsel and its U.S. marketing director.
Marcus expected them to blame Victoria.
They did not.
Not entirely.
Marketing director Sophie Lane produced email chains.
VICTORIA:
Marcus supports the campaign but hates paperwork.
SOPHIE:
We need signature authorization.
VICTORIA:
I’ll handle it.
Then a call memo.
Victoria represented that:
Marcus approved in principle,
family office would finalize consent,
Leo’s nanny was comfortable with production schedule.
Elena laughed bitterly.
“No one asked me.”
Sophie looked embarrassed.
Then another email:
SOPHIE:
Can we photograph Leo next Tuesday?
VICTORIA:
Yes. Nanny will be replaced by then.
Date:
five days before the hallway attack.
Marcus stared.
Replaced.
Preplanned.
Then campaign deck.
Slide title:
AUTHENTIC FAMILY INTIMACY.
Images planned:
Victoria feeding Leo,
Victoria dressing Leo,
Victoria holding him in nursery,
Victoria and Marcus together,
Marcus kissing Leo’s forehead.
Marcus asked:
“When was I supposed to show up?”
Sophie checked.
“Shoot day two.”
“I never agreed.”
Sophie went pale.

The brand had relied on Victoria’s representations.
That created corporate exposure for everyone.
