Chapter 12 - GREEN VALLEY RESPONDS

Green Valley’s board learned Linda had been promoting residential placement to family members without disclosure of her advisory role.
No law automatically prohibited that.
But governance mattered.
The board removed Linda from:
family-referral discussions,
advisory intake influence,
case-related communications.
Her donation remained.
She did not own the program.
She did not profit.
The scandal was narrower.
Yet meaningful.
The institution issued a policy:
advisory donors must disclose relationships when recommending services to relatives or known families.

Linda called it humiliating.
Rachel called it necessary.
