Chapter 6 - THE DONOR WALL

Rachel drove to Green Valley without warning them.
She did not enroll Emma.
She asked for public information.
The campus was clean.
Professional.
Licensed.
Not a dungeon.
That mattered.
The program director explained:
behavioral therapy,
structured schooling,
family sessions,
temporary residential care for qualifying cases.
Then Rachel saw a donor wall.
Names.
One stopped her.
LINDA BENNETT FAMILY FOUNDATION.
Donation:
$250,000.
Rachel felt cold.
Linda had never mentioned it.
The director said:
“Mrs. Bennett has supported us for years.”
“How many?”
“Seven.”
“Does she have any role here?”
“Advisory council.”
There.
Not ownership.
Not kickback.
Influence.

Linda had been recommending a program she helped fund.
No conflict disclosed to Rachel.
