Not because Emily won a moral contest.
Not because Margaret was cruel.
Because the trust condition required genuine cessation of marital cohabitation with separation intent.

the pre-anniversary departure was created under coercive family conflict,
Emily did not intend permanent separation before the incident,
Daniel did not either,
and the family had deliberately tried to create evidence of separation for financial leverage.
The fourteen-percent growth block moved into the marital trust.

about $26 million.
Emily did not receive $13 million cash.
The structure mattered.
She became:
co-beneficiary,
income participant,
protected spouse under trust terms.
Independent trustee controlled major distributions.
Margaret lost unilateral authority over that block.
