Chapter 10 - WHAT HAPPENED INSIDE THE CABIN
Colin changed his story.
He admitted driving Neftali’s SUV.
Why?
Rachel told him to.
Why crash it?
He said he did not.
He drove it down the mountain and left it at a turnout.
Someone else must have driven it later.
Vehicle GPS contradicted part.
After Colin’s phone left the area, the SUV moved again.
Possible.
Then Colin described the cabin argument.
Neftali accused Rachel of forging the trust amendment and lying to North Peak.
Rachel accused Neftali of sabotaging the company.
Then Neftali said he had copied everything.
Rachel threatened divorce.
Nothing criminal yet.
Then Neftali revealed he planned to call Eulalia and North Peak the next morning.
Rachel panicked.
According to Colin, she said:
“If your mother speaks, this deal is dead.”
Neftali answered:
“Then it dies.”
Then Neftali asked Colin to take the SUV down the mountain because he believed someone had installed a tracker.
Colin agreed.
Neftali planned to hike to a ranger road and meet Maya’s investigator.
That investigator never saw him.
Why?
Because at 11:18, another vehicle entered a service road.
Unregistered rental.
Paid cash? Hard nowadays. Use prepaid corporate account.
