Chapter 4 - OAK RIDGE SUITES
Oak Ridge Suites was not a major hotel.
It was a twenty-six-room extended-stay property owned by Patricia’s older sister, Melissa Crane.
That did not automatically make the invoices fake.
Lakeshore approved family-owned lodging if:
market rates were reasonable,
rooms were actually occupied,
payments were documented.
The problem was occupancy.
Electronic key logs showed:
Room 214 entered on nine nights.
Room 216 entered on eleven.
Not sixty-four.
Melissa’s explanation:
“The keys malfunction. Guests sometimes use master access.”
Possible.
Then housekeeping records.
Most days:
NO SERVICE — VACANT.
Melissa said:
“They requested privacy.”
Again possible.
Then the parking log.
Grant’s car had not been there.
