Chapter 8 - MELISSA'S PART

Melissa was not an innocent hotel owner.
Emails showed she knew the rooms were mostly empty.
MELISSA:
Do you want me to mark 214 vacant this week?
PATRICIA:
No. Keep it occupied on invoice.
MELISSA:
You sure?
PATRICIA:
Insurance already approved the rate.
Then:
MELISSA:
If they inspect?
PATRICIA:
I’ll handle the house.
There.
The house.
The hiding.
The children.
Melissa later said she thought Patricia kept the family elsewhere during inspections.
She did not know the children were being confined in the laundry room.
Maybe true.
