Chapter 8 - SOFIA'S BEST DEFENSE
Sofia came to Dominic with her attorney.
No hiding.
She placed every Haven Shield document on the table.
“Yes, I would become temporary guardian if the clause activated.”
“Yes, Haven Shield might be hired.”
“Yes, my company could make money.”
Then she looked directly at Dominic.
“But the clause only activates after independent review.”
She pointed at the trustee.
“Marcus Bell is not my employee.”
True.
She pointed at the security consultant.
“Dr. Helen Cross certifies whether relocation is necessary.”
Not Sofia.
True.
Then:
“If I wanted to steal Ethan, poisoning him is the stupidest possible way.”
Also plausible.
Dominic said:
“Mason worked for you.”
“For me. Not as my slave.”
“He disappeared.”
“Then find him.”
Sofia’s voice broke for the first time.
“You think I would hurt Elena’s son?”
Dominic answered:
“I think everyone lies when enough is at stake.”
Sofia looked devastated.
Then said:
May you like
“That includes you.”
The room went quiet.
