Chapter 10 - THE SALE

Claire listed the house.
Not secretly.
Grace sent formal notice.
Evelyn believed Claire was bluffing.
Tyler said:
“No buyer wants a house with family living inside.”
He was partly right.
Occupancy complicated everything.
Then an investor-buyer appeared.
Not a predatory cash buyer.
A local family who owned two rental homes.
They offered:
$708,000.
Below market.
But:
cash-heavy,
flexible closing,
sixty-day post-closing possession agreement.
Claire accepted.
Evelyn panicked.
“You’d sell it to strangers?”
Claire answered:
“I offered all of you the first chance.”
Tyler had no financing.
Richard could not qualify alone.

Evelyn refused to use retirement assets.
The sale moved forward.
