Chapter 4 - TYLER MOVES IN

Tyler owned a small kitchen-remodeling company.

Good worker.

Bad operator.

He underpriced jobs.

Used deposits from new clients to finish old jobs.

Then material prices increased.

Three projects collapsed.

Debt:

approximately $146,000.

Tyler and Sophie sold their condo.

They told Claire they needed:

“a few weeks.”

Claire agreed to thirty days.

They stayed.

Two months.

Four.

Eight.

Claire asked Evelyn:

“What’s the plan?”

Evelyn said:

“They’re family.”

Claire said:

“So am I.”

That conversation changed something.

Evelyn began acting as if Claire’s ownership were a technicality.

Tyler began calling the property:

“the family house.”

Sophie told neighbors:

“We moved back into Richard and Evelyn’s place.”

Claire corrected no one.

She should have.
