Chapter 11 - THE DEBT REVIEW

A consumer attorney joined the case.

Each account was reviewed separately.

Important.

Weston Credit:

application e-signed from Adrian’s device.

Lucy’s authorization disputed.

Merchant records weak.

Potential fraud dispute.

Northline:

included Lucy’s actual electronic consent to a smaller line.

Later increases were approved through Adrian-controlled email.

Mixed.

Metro business loan:

Lucy’s signature image copied from the van-financing application.

No evidence she reviewed the final $92,000 terms.

Strong dispute.

The lender had also failed to verify business-owner identity carefully.

Settlement negotiations began.

No magical deletion of everything.

Final restructuring likely meant:

some debt voided,

some apportioned in divorce,

some Adrian’s responsibility,

some legitimate joint expenses still affecting both.

Lucy hated that.

Rachel said:

“Justice is not always a clean balance sheet.”

She understood.

Then one good development:

credit bureaus froze new accounts.

Lucy changed passwords.

Opened her own bank account.

Ordered full credit reports.

For the first time in years, she knew every number attached to her name.
