Chapter 13 - RACHEL'S OWN ACCOUNTABILITY

Rachel had to admit something too.

She had allowed Diane to take over too much.

Not because she was weak.

Because it was convenient.

The farm was exhausting.

Pregnancy was exhausting.

Pain was exhausting.

Rachel accepted help without defining authority.

She let Diane:

call vendors,

schedule workers,

approve minor expenses.

Then became surprised when Diane treated access as ownership.

Megan told her:

“You are not responsible for Diane hitting Emma.”

Rachel nodded.

“But I am responsible for rebuilding boundaries.”

So she did.

New rules:

all contracts require Rachel’s signature,

bank dual verification for large transfers,

vendor authority list in writing,

no family member disciplining Emma except Rachel,

no unsupervised contact with Diane.

Clear.

Boring.

Effective.
