Chapter 7 - MARCUS'S BEST DEFENSE

Marcus hired Lauren Pierce.

She attacked the weak point immediately.

No video showed Marcus physically swapping the sample.

No fingerprint proved he touched the tube.

His office employed:

paralegals,

couriers,

records clerks,

outside messengers.

True.

He argued that chain-of-custody failure might be negligence.

Not fraud.

True.

Then the $450,000.

Marcus said all reserve spending had been approved by the independent trustee.

Also true.

Invoices existed.

Some work had actually been done.

Also true.

Lauren’s argument:

Even if the DNA test was compromised, it did not automatically prove Marcus stole anything.
