Chapter 9 - THE VENDOR NETWORK

Forensic accountants traced the reserve invoices.

Northbridge Genealogical Services was owned by:

Peter Lang.

Peter’s wife:

Dana Reynolds Lang.

Marcus’s sister.

Kestrel Document Review was owned by a former Marcus partner.

Emergency Fiduciary Consulting shared office space with Reynolds Advisory.

Related-party relationships had not been disclosed clearly.

That did not make every invoice fake.

Northbridge performed genealogy work.

Kestrel reviewed documents.

Consultants attended meetings.

But pricing was inflated.

Independent fair-value review estimated legitimate services at:

approximately $148,000.

The rest:

more than $300,000

was unsupported, excessive, duplicative, or routed through conflicts.

Maya stared at the report.

“So he didn’t just steal four-fifty.”

The forensic accountant corrected her.

“He caused the reserve to spend four-fifty. We can currently prove roughly three hundred thousand was improper or unsupported.”
