Chapter 15 - THE SECRET UNDER DIANE’S FLOOR
A warrant search of Diane’s house uncovered a concealed cabinet beneath the upstairs office floor.
It held medication logs, memory-session scripts, property deeds, and copies of letters Carol tried to send.
Diane had intercepted them.
One envelope contained Claire’s wedding ring.
Another held a recent hair sample labeled “Eli.” Diane had apparently planned private DNA testing but never submitted it.
Her lawyers argued the cabinet preserved confidential medical records from theft. The exterior bolt, deleted videos, and intercepted mail suggested confinement and control.
No chains or evidence of severe physical violence appeared. The case centered on unlawful restraint, guardianship abuse, financial exploitation, and coercive medication—not sensational allegations unsupported by proof.
Dr. Porter admitted Diane supplied the language for Eli’s diagnosis and withheld the locked-room context. Her license board opened proceedings.
Hannah’s name appeared on four session scripts. One instructed her to stand behind the camera and ask Carol whether Daniel was dangerous.
Hannah wrote a note beside it: She said no. Mom stopped recording.
That notation helped prove Diane manipulated sessions. It also proved Hannah knew.
“Why keep the script?” Rebecca asked.
“I thought someday I might need evidence against Mom.”
